Trabajos de Prehistoria ranks first among Spanish archaeology journals in Scimago Journal Rank and the new Dialnet index.

TP has improved its position in the international ranking of archaeology journals developed by the Scimago group.  The 2020 ranking of a journal published by SJR in June 2021 is calculated based on the number of that journal’s articles that were cited over the previous three years (2017-2019) in publications included in the Scopus data base.  In that ranking TP placed 18th among 318 archaeology journals and 1st among Spanish ones.  It is the leading journal in that ranking that is open-access. TP has been in the first quartile of Archaeology journals since 2012. In 2020 its articles received more citations and more of its articles were cited than not. This indicates that the greater impact of the journal is due, not to the particular interest of a few articles, but to the positive reception of the majority of contributions.

In April 2021 the Dialnet Foundation completed its incorporation of disciplines in the Humanities in its portal of bibliometric indices for Spanish journals Dialnet / Métricas.

The Dialnet Journal Index [IDR] takes into account the number of citations per year over the previous five years of articles published in the journals included in that bibliographic portal.

According to IDR, TP is in the first position the thematic categories of Archaeology/Prehistory (over 60 journals) and History (over 300 journals). The bibliometric data in IDR can be consulted at the following link.
