‘Cabezas cortadas’ iberas en contextos cosetanos e ilergetes. Nuevas aportaciones bioantropológicas en El Molí d’Espígol (Tornabous, Lleida) y Olèrdola (Olèrdola, Barcelona)

Resumen

Este artículo presenta nuevas evidencias de prácticas rituales potencialmente relacionables con las conocidas como ‘cabezas cortadas’. El análisis de hallazgos procedentes de los yacimientos ibéricos de El Molí d’Espígol (Tornabous, Lleida) y Olèrdola (Olèrdola, Barcelona) permiten ampliar la frontera sur de este fenómeno, tradicionalmente asociado a los pueblos indigetes y layetanos al norte del río Llobregat, a contextos cosetanos e ilergetes. El análisis bioantropológico ha identificado marcas de corte peri mortem, algunas interpretadas como posible causa de la muerte y otras como manipulación ritual del cráneo. Los análisis biomoleculares de sustancias orgánicas y de estroncio y oxígeno en muestras óseas y dentales muestran el uso de resinas, aceites o ceras vegetales en el tratamiento del esplacnocráneo, así como una movilidad en consonancia con otros casos de ‘cabezas cortadas’ del NE peninsular. Estos hallazgos aportan nueva información a un registro bioantropológico muy limitado, condicionado por la predominancia de la cremación como ritual funerario en las comunidades ibéricas, y contribuyen a la interpretación simbólica, social y territorial de esta práctica excepcional.
