This paper is about statistical reasoning as a means of logical inference. The case study concerns the phenomenon of the anthropomorphic stelae and statue-menhirs in the Calcolithic and Bronze Age of the Iberian Peninsula. Through cluster analysis (hierarchical and non-hierarchical), multiple regression, spatial-temporal series and Principal Components, I have obtained a set of significant hypothesis, which explain the causal factors of cultural heterogeneity in the world of Stelae. In this paper I cover: ways of obtaining hypotheses from statistical results, ways of testing those hypotheses and subjectivity in analysis.
