An isotopic approach to diet in the Bronze Age in La Mancha: the funerary monument of El Amarejo 1 (Bonete, Albacete)

Abstract


The study of dietary patterns from past societies is a primary source of information, shedding light on the relationship between humans and the natural environment. With the aim of expanding current knowledge of the dietary habits of Bronze Age societies in La Mancha, we present new carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) stable isotope ratio data from bone collagen of 11 human individuals (MNI) buried in Bronze Age monument on El Amarejo 1 (Bonete, Albacete), as well as from faunal remains recovered at the contemporary site of Cerro del Cuchillo (Almansa, Albacete).
