Abstract

The aim of this paper is to make an appraisal of the construction of the landscape among the prehistoric communities of NW Iberia, through the perspective of Landscape Archaeology. To that purpose, we have carried out an analysis of mound location in three areas of western Galicia, following a model that considers four main variables: natural paths, natural elements, tradition and the settlement of the actual megalith builders. Moreover we observed a significant relationship between mounds and petroglyphs, leading us to define a new location factor playing a major role in the construction of space.
