Abstract

This work is included in one of the research lines of the Prehistory Area of the Department of Historical Sciencies (University of Cantabria), devoted to the documentation of regional rock art. The palaeolithic figures at Covalanas are a sinchronic and ordered group, that uses the pointed-line technique and other pictorial procedures close to it. From the stylistic analysis of figures and signs, and from comparisons with other well-dated «sanctuaries», an advanced Solutrean date can be proposed for these paintings.
