Trabajos de Prehistoria is a scientific journal published by CSIC and edited by the Instituto de Historia at CCHS. The journal preferably publishes papers on the Prehistory and Protohistory of the Iberian Peninsula and its relations with Europe and the Mediterranean. On a exceptional basis, works related to other geographical areas may be published, but only if they are considered of general interest, based on their theoretical or methodological focus or on the comparative value of their archeological content. The journal covers as well subjects related to archaeological theory and methodology, archaeometry and palaeoenvironments. TP also deals with the management of archaeological heritage and it contains book review and scientific chronicle sections.
Founded in 1960 by Professor Dr. Martín Almagro Basch, it started as a monograph series and in 1968 it changed into an annual journal to become biannual in 1994. It began to be available online in 2007, in PDF format, maintaining printed edition until 2023. That year it became an electronic journal publishing in PDF, HTML and XML-JATS. Contents of previous issues are also available in PDF files.
Trabajos de Prehistoria is indexed in Web of Science: Journal Citation Reports (JCR), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI); SCOPUS, CWTS Leiden Ranking (Journal indicators), ERIH Plus, REDIB, DOAJ and other national and international databases. It is indexed in Latindex Catalogue 2.0 and has obtained the FECYT Seal of Quality with mention of good practices in gender equality.
