La actividad metalúrgica en la Edad del Bronce del sudeste de la Península Ibérica: tecnología e interpretación cultural

Metallurgy is one of the main factors used to explain the social complexity detected in the Bronze Age, and the Argaric Culture, in the Southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, is no exception. However, there has been neither a quantitative study of the archaeological record nor one of the technology of metal artefacts and metallurgical production. The results of such studies allow us to assess the limited economic value of metallurgy and to reject the cultural interpretation based on this supposed value. The technological study shows a local and slow evolution, with little development when compared with contemporary European Bronze Age cultures.
